What a vibe!
DAY 1 in building community resilience and bright and sustainable futures for our regional and rural towns and precincts. Led by the amazing George Liaicos of Spark Strategy, this was the purpose and driving force behind the community place making project’s ‘Town Strategy Masterclass.
What a great group of representatives stretching far and wide across the Wimmera Mallee, bringing community, action, progress and business groups together to link in with key stakeholders such as Regional Development Victoria, Wimmera Catchment Management Authority, WSM Development and local shire councils. Working collaboratively to share ideas and seek out solutions, this truly was one of those defining moments. Something is happening and its exciting.
Thank you to Sue Exell and Mary-Ellen Lamont of Haven Community Enterprise Inc. for hosting the first day of our immersion session. This precinct holds the key to easing early years education availability, addressing the changing and multiple needs of the modern family, and creating yet another precinct flowing over with history, stories, external and internal tourism opportunities, and the ability to become the key community HUB for Horsham South. Amazing commitment and determination from this team! Thanks also go out to the incredible BBQ and morning smoko’ team in Kevin, Gary and Leslie (the brandy snaps Leslie…..the brandy snaps).
Funded by FRRR and the Australian Government, this project has provided a platform of many exciting things to come. This is only the beginning!

Funded by FRRR and the Australian Government, the Town Strategy Masterclass Program concluded with the final immersion session being hosted at the Maydale Reserve, where participants got to sink into its rustic charm and beauty. An example of a precinct BURSTING with opportunity and positioned perfectly to accommodate growth across the city, municipality and region, WOW ‘what are we waiting for’ is all we can say.
Thank you to Andrea and her team for hosting DAY 2. A great way to end the program, and an even better way to start the next phase. Thank you to our funding bodies, Spark Strategy and George Liaicos, thank you to all the participants, and thank you to our key stakeholders. We look forward to where this leads.
